It is a great time to be a fan of anime and video games right now. The next few months will see a release of quite a few anime based video games. I have listed them below, along with release dates, and suggested retail prices. Check them out, and support these franchise by buying their games, it’s the only we we can guarantee that they will continue to port more of these to the States in the future.
Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi
Platform/s: Xbox 360, PS3
Release Date:October 25, 2011
As a fan of Dragon Ball Z, I am always excited when they release a new game, but I also keep my expectations low. This game has me curious though after watching a few videos. It looks like they supplemented the battle system with some light RPG elements. The game will pause between certain attacks to allow players to pick from a small selection of actions to counter or attack with. It is an interesting concept and it will either make the game or break it, as stopping the action mid-fight could turn some fans away.
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations
Platform/s: Xbox 360, PS3
Release Date: February 28, 2012
This game just looks amazing. This fighting game franchise just keeps getting better and better with each iteration. The developers continue to improve upon the Ultimate Ninja Storm game engine, and have expanded the roster to include characters from all ages of the Naruto timeline. If you liked the first two you will definitely want to grab this one, and if you have yet to play the first two this is a great introduction to the series.
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Impact
Release Date: October 18, 2011
Dust off those PSPs and get ready for some intense ninja action on the go. Developer CyberConnect2 has taken their winning formula and shrunk it down to a portable size. This game is more of an action/adventure type game with fighting game elements added to it. As any one with a PSP knows games are pretty sparse on this system as developers are abandon the PSP for the Vita. So if you have one, and are looking for something new I suggest giving this game a try.
Bleach: Soul Resurreccion
Release Date: Available Now
I picked this one up when it was released a few months ago, and have spent some time with it. As a Bleach fan, I think it is a great game for the series. It gives you a wide range of characters to choose from, and allows you to customize them by buying skills from a grid ( a lot like the system used in final Fantasy 10). The fighting is pretty fast and fluid, and each character comes with their signature moves, which are easy to pull off. On the down side, most characters must be unlocked by playing through the story mode first, and the backgrounds are a bit bland and boring. It is a fun game, but they only way I can recommend paying the full price is to anyone who is a die hard fan of the series, otherwise I would say wait for a price drop.
