After having more time with Marvel vs Capcom 3 I started to notice this game wasn’t as perfect as I originally thought. Yes it’s a fun, fast paced, frantic joy ride but there are some areas that have me going WTF?? First on that list is the timer. Capcom should give us the option for unlimited time when you create a lobby. I play a lot of matches with my online friends and there is nothing more frustrating than when you are turning the tide on a bad match and then TIME OVER pops up on the screen and you lose. With a 3 on 3 match 99 seconds just isn’t enough time, and what irritates me is that when you play locally you can turn the timer off.
Second, is that there is no spectator mode while you are waiting in a lobby. All you get is face pics and life bars of the people fighting that you watch drain as they fight. With a lobby that can hold up to 8 people this starts to become torture. If you lose, you have to sit there for six rounds and watch a blank screen. Street Fighter 4 allows you to watch as others duke it out so I know Capcom has the code to do it, I just can’t understand why they didn’t.
Third, is how the game automatically kicks you into the next fight. If you are not fast enough or get distracted, the next thing you know you are at the character select screen. This has happened quite a few times when I’ve been playing and then the question is “If we quit the match do we go to Rage Quitter Hell?” What ever happened to the Ready button?
Last is Sentinel! Seriously Capcom, nerf that douche. He’s the strongest character and has more health than anyone too! Capcom will give Phoenix 400 health because she’s “so strong” but they’ll let Sentinel have his cake and eat it too.
These are my major gripes with the game (besides lack of stages) and I’m hoping Capcom will address some of these concerns with patches and updates. I also might be expecting more from them because I come from playing Street Fighter which has a great user interface.
