I’ve been a fan of Power Girl for a while now and was really excited when I heard that DC was giving her a stand alone title. Unfortunately I was not a big fan of the stories and art work that was been churned out, I felt it was just a little to cartoony. I decided to give the book another chance when I heard that a new creative team was taking over with issue #13. I was not disappointed this time.
Judd Winick and Sami Basri deliver in spades. They have given her a sense of purpose and have been creating an awesome Rouges Gallery for her. They have always worked in her ties with the rest of the DC Universe, seeing her chat with Batman and hang with the JSA remind you that she is a powerful force in the DCU. Her supporting cast is great too. Having the smartest guy in her company figure out that Karen Starr is actually Power Girl was great writing and just made sense.
The next few issues tie into Brightest Day: Generation Lost so you might want to pick up some back issues first or wait for issue#22 in March which starts a new story line. I really recommend this title and at $2.99 an issue it is so worth it.
